The 117th space shuttle flight is scheduled for liftoff at 8:35 p.m. CST today in Florida.
On a recent episode of the CBS show, “Numb3rs,” physicist Dr. Larry Fleinhardt announced that he would be on the next space shuttle flight and spend some time on the International Space Station. His friend and Cal-Sci professor, Charlie, is in denial about it and thinks that Larry won’t go. Fans of the show know Larry is crazy about anything celestial and would not miss this amazing opportunity.
I don’t know how I'd handle the G-forces involved in getting from earth to outer space, but I'd like to think I would try and that it'd be worth it. Well, that and the whole being claustrophobic issue. (Maybe I could reserve a window seat?) And I better not think of Apollo 13…Challenger…or Columbia…
I like to think that I’d visit anywhere at least once—from Antarctica to the moon.
If you had the opportunity, would you travel into space?
