NORTHERN EXPOSURE: THE COMPLETE SERIES
Joel Fleishman (played by Rob Morrow, who didn’t stay for the final season), a newly minted doctor from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, finds himself indentured to the State of Alaska for paying his medical school tuition. That was the premise of this winsome culture-clash series that ran from 1990 to 1995, pitting a neurotic young New York City internist against the eccentric folkways of a small town in rural Alaska. (Joel arrives and is asked, “What’s a bagel?”) A comedy, a drama, a love story, the show never got too broad or too bizarre. And John Corbett (Aidan of “Sex and the City”) was a heartthrob here first. (Universal Studios, $199.98)
